Dr Lana del Porto is an ophthalmologist specialising in cataract, squint (strabismus), paediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology and general ophthalmology.
Her clinical interests include:
• Cataract surgery
• Squint surgery (strabismus) including thyroid eye disease
• Children’s eye problems
• Macular degeneration including injection treatment and monitoring
• Glaucoma: including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery
• Neuro-ophthalmology
Dr del Porto completed her medical degree at The University of Sydney, graduating with honours. She completed her ophthalmology training at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne and subsequently undertook fellowship training at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Lana completed fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology, strabismus and paediatrics while undertaking research in optic neuritis and thyroid eye disease.
Dr del Porto works as a staff specialist at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in the cataract, strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology clinics. She teaches cataract and squint surgery to the training registrars and fellows. Lana is a fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. She has been an invited speaker at international scientific meetings and has publications in the medical literature. Lana has presented her research at national and international meetings including The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists Congress in Perth, The American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) in Nashville and the European Strabismological Association (ESA) in Budapest. Lana is dedicated to providing the very best care for her patients.
