GLAUCOMA SPECIALIST
Dr Renuka Bathija is an ophthalmologist specialising in early diagnosis and medical /surgical treatment of glaucoma.
She graduated as a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (Melbourne University) in 1997. She subsequently did her glaucoma fellowship from Shiley Eye Centre (University of California, San Diego). Dr. Bathija has published papers in international journals on “Digital Imaging of Optic Nerve and Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer” in the early detection and diagnosis of glaucoma.
She has extensive international experience, having worked in India, U.S.A and from being involved in volunteering work through Fred Hollows foundation. Dr. Bathija is a consulting ophthalmologist (Glaucoma Unit) at Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where significant emphasis is placed on managing patients, teaching registrars, medical students and optometrists.
Dr Bathija consults at the Cheltenham Eye Centre every Friday and one Monday morning a month. She operates at least once a week at various public and private facilities in Melbourne metropolitan and the Eastern suburbs.
When not working, she loves doing long brunches with the family followed by swimming laps and she cannot go past a glass of red in front of a fireplace with friends!
